Your models stay on your device
Start with the part that matters most: every BIM model you open on bimviewer.org is parsed inside your own browser, by WebAssembly code the page downloads to your machine. No viewer or tool on this site uploads your file anywhere — there is no server-side processing to send it to. We never see a model, cannot store one, and have nothing to delete when you leave; closing the tab ends it. If you want proof rather than promises, open your browser's network inspector while using a tool: no request carries your file.
What we do collect
The free service is sustained by ads and improved with usage statistics, which involves the usual third parties:
- Google Analytics 4: aggregate interaction events — which pages and tools get used, rough geography derived from IP, browser and device class. File names, model contents and anything extracted from a model are never part of these events.
- Google AdSense: advertising keeps the tools free. Where you consent, Google and its partners may set cookies to tailor the ads shown; without consent, ads stay non-personalized. Google documents its practices at policies.google.com.
- Access logs: our hosting provider and Cloudflare record standard entries (IP address, requested URL, user agent) to fight abuse and keep the site up; they are kept only for a short window.
Cookies and browser storage
Cookies appear only in connection with the consent banner and the analytics/advertising services above, honoring whatever you chose in that banner. Separately, the site keeps a few interface preferences — your theme, your consent choice — in the browser's local storage. Those values describe the UI, never your models, and they never travel off your device.
Your rights
GDPR and similar laws give you access, rectification and erasure rights over personal data. Because of how this site is built, the personal data in play is limited to the analytics and log records described above. Consent for analytics and advertising can be revisited any time from "Cookie preferences" in the footer. For anything else, write to the address below.
